Central Iowa Traveling Horseshoe League

Des Moines / Ames area players have the opportunity to play in a sanctioned league for teams of four to five players (per team) on Tuesday nights beginning the first Tuesday in May, on May 2nd. Team captains should get their team rosters to Chris Jordan as soon as possible. The league fee is $80 per team. Captains should make certain that all players they recruit have paid their 2023 NHPA dues.

Home courts are currently located in Ames at North River Valley Park, In West Des Moines at the Florer Courts in Holiday Park, and in Des Moines at the Iowa State Fairgrounds courts. Play begins promptly at 6:30 pm. “Count all” scoring is used and averages for each player (average points per night) are kept weekly to determine the team handicap for the following week. All teams play both a “home” and “away” match. If additional teams enter the league, the season will lengthen. Four 40-shoe games are played each night.

You have the opportunity to play in the Central Iowa Traveling Horseshoe League (CITHL). This league is the longest continually running traveling horseshoe league in the United States.
